Lydia and Nia’s relationship has lasted since 2008, when Lydia was first matched while a sophomore at Centre College in Danville. Even after leaving of Danville in May of 2011, the two have kept in touch, talking every couple of weeks and seeing each other about once a year. In June of 2017, Nia was honored to be a bridesmaid in Lydia’s wedding! Nia is currently getting ready to graduate from Danville High School. Lydia says, “I cannot tell you what a blessing it has been to be a part of Nia’s life! I feel like she is half mine! Big Brothers Big Sisters is amazing organization. I pray that God will continue to match children and college students as Nia and I were matched.”
